Wildkat Sports International Invasion April 27th 2013

After watching some of the Wildkat shows on Youtube and also seeming some of the wrestlers on Powerslam Pro shows ,the three of us decided  to head down to LA for their next show.

Left my house around 1pm. And it was almost 3:30pm before we got to New Orleans. Stopped at Wan's Flying Burrito to eat lunch. And holy shit was it good. Got this massive burrito that I couldn't manage to finish. We stopped by Collin's Mom's place for him to grab some stuff. Then about 30 minutes before they opened the doors we headed to the rec center.

When we got there ,there was already at least 60 people in line. Finally a little after 6 the doors opened and we headed in. Walked into the gym and I hear someone yell "HEY NEWT!" I look up and see Reggie Matthews sitting at the top of the bleachers. So we go sit next to him. He introduces me to one of Powerslam's new trainees. Sorry I do not remember her name. But we spend the time before the show starts just bullshitting. Reggie ask if we are gonna be at the May Powerslam Pro show in Liberty. And I remind him that we have already reserved tickets to the meet and greet before the show. Powerslam is brining in Big Daddy V for that show.

Right before the show starts Collin's friend Damien shows up. And he grabs a seat in front of us. Then a few minutes after 7pm Brent, the ring announcer for both Powerslam and Wildkat hits the ring.

We are introduced to new general manager Al Lions. He used to work for Mid South back in the day. He tells us tonight there will be a 4 way elimination match for the new Wildkat Revolution title. Then One Man Mike Dell hits the ring.

Dell wants a shot at the current Wildkat Heavyweight champ Luke Hawx. Dell and Lions talk for a few minutes then Luke's music hits the speakers.
The crowd goes nuts. It is obvious that Luke is majorly over with the LA crowd. He gets in the ring. Luke and Dell go back and forth on the mic. Al sets up a match for later on in the show. Luke vs Mike in an non title match. If Dell wins he gets a title shot at the next Wildkat show.

Match 1.Kadaver/Ricky Starks VS Purple Haze Davey Hendrix/Jack Jameson

The only guy in this match I had seen before was Purple Haze. And he impressed me. Jack Jameson has a very impressive beard. Haze and Starks start off the match.

This ends up be a fun fast paced match. Jack is a great face and the crowd is solidly behind him. I love the "BEARD" chants the crowd kept doing. Finally Purple Haze goes to the top rope and hits a wicked move on Kadaver.
And he gets the pin.

Match 2 Minotaur vs Wes Adams

Now I had only seen Minotaur one time before. On the Mississippi Championship Wrestling show. Wes I have seen a bunch of times at Powerslam shows. So I knew this would be a big strong guy vs a quicker guy match.
The crowd seems to love Wes. This was mostly Minotaur hitting power moves and Wes sticking and moving.

Wes hits a nice looking jumping DDT and gets the three count.

Match 3 Luke Hawx vs Mike Dell non-title match

Brent comes out and informs us cause of backstage stuff, the Luke vs Mike match is happening now. Both guys come out and pose some. Then get in the middle of the ring and stare each other down.
Really stiff hard hitting match. With it going back and forth. Then the ref gets knocked down. While the ref is down Mike grabs a chair and gets into the ring. He misses hitting Luke and Luke manages to get the chair. Dell sees that the ref is about to get up so he drops to the mat. The ref gets up and sees Dell laid out on the mat and Luke is standing there holding a chair. So he calls for the bell. Dell wins by DQ. Al Lions comes out and explains how at the June Wildkat show there will be a rematch for the Wildkat Heavyweight Championship.

Now it was time for intermission. All the faces come out posing for pictures with fans and signing autographs. I go and talk to Sgt Sorroco,Davey Hendrix,Wes Adams,Luke and a few others.

Match 4 Bolt Brady vs Bestia 666

Nice the match I had came down to see. Been a huge fan of Lucha Libre for over 10 years now. So the chance to get to see a legit Luchadore in person was worth the long drive. Bolt came out first.
I had never seen Bolt before, but knew his name. Since he works lots of the indies in LA and MS. Then out comes Bestia 666.
We got a great fast fast fast lucha style match. With both guys hitting some quick hard hitting moves. One major stand out is when Bestia is outside the ring and Bolt hits a sweet dive on him from the ring. Finally Bolt gets the pin. Which surprised me. I figured Bestia would win. But holy shit was this match great.

Match 5 Sgt Sorroco vs John Saxon

Had talked to Sgt during intermission and as always he is a super nice guy. Now I had heard of Saxon before but this was the first time I ever saw him wrestle. Saxon was stiff as shit. He was hitting Sgt like he owed him money, or maybe Saxon was pissed off about something else. Sgt finally gets on the top rope and hits a nice dive on Saxon for the pin.

The Outlaw Matt Lincie interferes . Seems he has an issue with Saxon.

Match 6 Buku Dao vs Chris Masters

Buku runs out and the crowd goes wild. I saw so many people with Buku Dao shirts. This was suppose to be a match between Dao and Curt Matthews. But Curt comes out and says his friend will face Buku. And out comes Chris Masters.

What I loved is the crowd obviously wanted to cheer Masters. But he managed to get most of them booing him. This was a great little man vs big man match. With Masters hitting huge power moves. And Buku doing all he can to take Masters down. After a nice long match,Masters caught Buku in the Masterlock. And Buku passes out. So Masters wins. After the match Chris grabs the mic and puts Buku Dao over. Nice classy move from Mr Masters.

Match 7 Blake Wilder VS Matt Lincie vs Carson vs Rudy Russo in a 4 way NO DQ elimination match for the Wildkat Revolution title

This is our main event. And so much was happening at one I had trouble keeping up. It was strange to me cause in Powerslam Pro Wilder is a heel. But here in Wildkat he is a huge face. I am betting part of that is cause he is from NOLA.

I had never seen Carson or Rudy before. Carson is a decent worker and the crowd seems to like him . Rudy is a heel and has a wicked mullet. So of course a mullet chant got started. Russo was the first one to be eliminated. Then next was Carson. So we got Wilder vs Lincie at the end. It looked like Lincie was gonna win. Then Sgt runs out with a chair and clobbers Lincie. Wilder gets the pin and the crowd explodes.
We hung out for a few minutes after the match. Got a quick picture of 2 of us with Reggie.
Then we all hit the bathrooms. We head outside and talk to Damien for a few. And Jon Paul walks over and bullshits with us for a little while. Not too long later we head to the car and start the long drive back home.

It was a great show with no bad matches. We are planning on coming back down in June for the next show. So if you are in the area go check out a Wildkat show. If you aren't goto Youtube and search for Wildkat Sports. They have 5 episodes of their Youtube show up currently and they are worth watching. Thanks to all the people with Wildkat Sports for providing a great evening of wrestling.

Gorehouse Greats collection
Millcreek Entertainment
$5

This is a nice set of late 60s through early 90s drive in horror. With pretty much all the films from Crown International. Now before a few years ago I had no idea who Crown International was. But it seems they were a low budget version of Roger Corman's films.

Blood of Dracula's Castle-83 minutes This is from 1969,and is the  one oldest film in the set. And also looks the worst. There is piles of print damage. And through out most of the film green lines speckle the frame. Nothing about this film stands out to me. But it seems to have a fanbase. Which is mostly people that saw this lots on late night TV. To me it was your normal low budget vampire film.

Blood Mania-80 minutes From 1970 film is more of a drama than a horror film. Pretty much lots of talking heads. But still worth watching at least once.

Brain Twisters-91 minutes From 1991 this is the newest film on the set. It is about a group of people using computers to control people's minds. Not bad really. But nothing worth tracking down.

The Devil's Hand-71 minutes This 1962 film is filled with voodoo, cults and human sacrifices. Was surprised at how much fun this was.

The Madman of Mandoras-73 minutes This 1963 black and white film is more commonly known as "They Saved Hitler's Brain". Well known in bad movie circles. It is actually two films that have been stitched together.

Nightmare in Wax-94 minutes Starring Cameron Mitchel, this is a fun little slice of cheese. Set in a wax museum. Lots of great scenes and this film alone is worth the price of the set.

Prime Evil-86 minutes Mid 80s  about evil monks. By sacrificing people these monks live forever. Pretty decent film, and another one of the set that I can see myself watching more than once.

Satan's Slave-87 minutes A young lady is on her way for a nice vacation. But gets kidnapped and tortured by her uncle and cousin. Really great film, that either Code Red or Scorpion have put out a remastered DVD of. I enjoyed this one enough that I will buy the remastered DVD soon.

Stanley-106 minutes Very fun film about a first nations guy who comes back Nam and goes to live in the Florida everglades. He teaches his pet snake to kill people. I know before they folded BCI put out a great DVD of this. But the print on here looks great.

Terrified-80 minutes A college student is targeted by a stranger. Nice suspenseful thriller.

Terror-84 minutes Slow moving creature feature. Watched it once and doubt I ever watch it again.

Trip with the Teacher-89 minutes Starring a young Zalman King, this is  a great slice of mid 70s drive in cheese. A group of bikers kidnap a teacher and her students, while they are on a field trip. Very sleazy. Plus Zalman looks like mid 90s era Bono of U2 fame.

So out of the 12 films,6 of them are pretty damn good. With only  a handful of truly bad films. Online it sells for around 10 bucks. But I see it all the time for $5 at various stores. At 10 bucks it is a decent deal. At $5 it is a great deal. Worth tracking down if you enjoy low budget drive in style cinema.
