31 Days of Horror 2025 Day 28 Ticks

TITLE-Ticks

SOURCE-Olive Films Blu Ray

Feels like this was one of those early to mid 90s films that got a pile of coverage in Fango. I read up on it wanted to see it and nope no copies hit video stores in my area. Earlier this year Cody hooked me up with his old Blu ray of it. Letting me revisit a film I didn't see until at least the early 2000s.

Clint Howards super grow mix for his pot plants drips down  through the floorboards on some tick eggs. Thus creating the titular creatures. And we got a van full of troubled teens and their two handlers heading to a near by cabin.

Yea it is a standard creature feature plot. And if this didn't have great FX and an interesting cast I bet it would be forgotten.

We got some slimy oozy fx work. Great stuff that just makes you shudder a bit. Brian Yuzna an executive producer on this so that makes sense.

Then that cast. Besides Clint Howard as the pot farmer you get Alfonso Ribiro as a very against type character for him. Yep we got Carlton from Fresh Prince dressed and acting like he was a background extra in Wu Tang's Protect Ya Neck music video. Got an earlyish role for Seth Green as the normal nerd stereotype in b films. Then the always great to see Ami Dolenz. She had a smallish career playing a similar role in piles of B movies for about a decade.

Sure it feels a bit like scenes are missing. With some plot points not explained fully. A bit of research I learned there was a pile of added scenes. Like the Clint Howard super grow formula stuff.

Worth seeing. No clue if this blu ray is out of print,I know the Scream Factory release is.

31 Days of Horror 2025 Day 25 Swamp Devil

TITLE-Swamp Devil

SOURCE-Maneater Series Triple Pack DVD

I grew up seeing the 50s/60s and 70s creature features on  tv. Sometimes with a host sometimes not. Which is partially why when I find a pack like the  one pictured above for a buck I take a chance. Yea all three films are CGI crapfest made for SYFY channel. But sometimes they can be decent and sometimes you want the movie version of eating a dozen Krystals with cheese for dinner.

Swamp Devil has a young lady returning to the town where she was born. After her mother passed her father pretty much abandoned her. She gets a call saying her father is dying and she comes back to take care of him. The father is played by the only name in the cast,Bruce Dern.

Right when she arrives at the town a guy about her age welcomes her. She wonders how he knows her when she moved from the town when she was still fairly young. He is the son of the local diner owner.

This takes a bit to get going. First kill happening around the 30 minute mark. And besides being pure CGI it isn't bad. Yea there is almost no blood. Really besides a few uses of the word fuck nothing in this would warrant a R rating.

Over the course of about 90 minutes we learn that our lead's dad and some other guys beat a guy to death for a crime he did. And tossed his body in the swamp. Now his spirit possesses what looks like Groot and Swamp Thing had a kid that was a cut scene from a PS2 game.

The acting isn't bad. The story is one you have seen before but done fairly well here. And for a low budget movie the CGI is decent, If there was a few more kills this would be one I would recommend to almost anyone that likes horror.

I do enjoy how early on the rules for the Swamp Devil are set. And then used to kill him at the end. Plus of course we get a teaser for a sequel.

Worth seeing, thinking this is streaming on TUBI or Fawesome for free. And if you like modern CGI creature features it is worth grabbing on DVD for cheap.

31 Days of Horror 2025 Day 23 CrackCoon

TITLE-CrackCoon

SOURCE-Amazon Prime Video

Prime Video the streaming service I forget I have. Usually I go to it when whatever I want to see isn't on anything else. If Tubi is the Mom and Pop video store at 9pm on a Friday,Amazon Prime Video is that regional chain video store, mine was Homeport Video, they got 3 or 4 stores tops so you know if no other place has say Van Nuys BLVD one of the Homeport Videos will.

Wanted something fast and easy to watch. Saw the title and knew I had found the film. A new crack is out on the streets. To me it looks like someone melted down orange gummi bears. Whoever smokes this crack gets instantly violent and starts killing people.

Cut to 2 couples and a friend out in the woods. After getting to know them a bit we cut to a car with two drug dealers. They are delivering the crack to the two couples. Notice a cop car following them so in a blind curve throw their backpack of crack out the window. Then once the cops let them go they go to find the crack. But a raccoon has already ate all of it. Now it is a killer Crackcoon. His first kill is by biting off the dick and balls of one of the drug dealers. The rest of the film is the 5 folks at the house, the one living drug dealer and a sheriff and his burlesque dancer looking wife fighting of the killer CrackCoon.

The Crackcoon looks like a stuffed animal. It's attacks are mostly offf screen then we see the damage, which is normally some decent looking gore. Acting wise the cast goes as bad as "PLease shut up and die cause you are not a good actor" to "Hey you might be able to get a bit part on Law & Order SVU one day."

Big Dumb Fun and I loved it. I wouldn't buy it on blu ray or dvd. I doubt I watch it again. But I don't hate I spent time watching it.

31 Days of Horror 2024 Day 12 Two Headed Shark Attack

TITLE-2 Headed Shark Attack

SOURCE-Blu Ray

I kind of miss how 10 years ago you knew most Saturdays on SYFY channel you got a new movie. Mostly CGI filled creature features. But they would be fun watches with a room full of folks.

Somehow back then 2 Headed Shark Attack missed my attention. Even after seeing on the sadly short lived show Monster Man how the shark was made I still didn't bother watching it.

Skip ahead to late last year. Was on  my way to see someone, stop at one of the many Dollar Generals in the deep south to grab a drink. And like always dug through their selection of dvds and blu rays. Found the above pictured double feature for 2 bucks new sealed. Thinking it might be a bit before I watched it. Here almost a year later I am watching it.

Now most of these SYFY originals would get a name or two for the cast. This time we got 3, Charlie O Connel,Jerry's brother, Carmen Elektra and Brooke Hogan... Yea the Hulkster's daughter who tried to be a singer then in wrestling then in films. Failing at all three.

Charlie is the Captain of a semester at sea ship. Brooke is one of the students. One who as a kid got terrorized by a shark so is afraid of water. Carmen is pretty much here in the film as eye candy.

Their ship gets damaged and taking on water. But off in the distance is an atoll. So they load up in two skiffs and head to the atoll. Which is where we learn there is a shark with two heads that patrols the water off the atoll.

Mostly the shark is CGI and looks ok. There is a few scenes with a puppet shark that looks good. It was these scenes I saw on Monster Man.

Not that much gore really. Very little nudity and foul language. Really not much had to be cut to air this on SYFY.

One thing that caught my eye is Fred Olen Ray's son Christopher directed this. Nice to see he is following in his dad's footsteps. Maybe we will get Evil Toons 2 soon.

The blu ray is bare bones. Got the movie and that is it. But it looks good sounds good. And for 2 bucks for 2 films I feel like I got my money's worth.

31 Days of Horror 2025 Day 06 Croczilla

TITLE-Croczilla

SOURCE-Echo Bridge DVD

The four bonus movies promised on the cover and PD horror films you already got on other sets. This is one you buy for CROCZILLA and CROCZILLA only.

A croc farmer sells his giant croc to a shady resturant owner. The owner plans on cooking it and selling it. But Croczilla escapes before this can happen. She is ready to lay eggs.

On her path she eats a lady's purse that has 1 million Euros in it. Which is why in China this film is known as The Million Dollar Crocodile. Oh yea this is China's first big budget creature feature. Costing 4.5 million US.

So word gets out about the purse with the money in it in Croczilla, and we get the lady after it. The resturant owner and a cop. Plus Croczilla's original owner. Tagging along is a kid that became friends with Croczilla, yea like Gamera.

Only really one on screen kill, and it isn't that bloody. The CGI Croc looks good. For 2012 this looks better than most of those SYFY Saturday night creature features. You know stuff like Mega Shark vs Crocasaurus and Meth Gator.

The acting appears to be good, the dubbing is not great. Lots of bad accents and all that. I could see  some people finding the dubbing to be a bit offensive.

Nothing amazing but still a decent way to pass an hour and a half.

Now the drawback to this release. Got 5 movies on one DVD. Croczilla is majorly compressed. The picture always looked a tad out of focus. Like when you first wake up in the morning and everything is a bit foggy. Nothing major. The sound was simple 2 channel stereo.

Now I want to find a decent Blu Ray of this. I can see myself going back and watching this again.

Piranha DVD

Title-Piranha

SOURCE-Shout Factory DVD

Yea normally I save horror stuff for October. Just after watching this the other night I felt the need to write about it. Now I have covered the 90s remake and the 2000s remake on this blog before. And I've seen  the original many times.

First time viewing it had to be when it premiered on network tv. Sure it was some channels Movie of the week, who else remembers that? Each major OTA network would have a night of the week where they showed cut for tv versions of big movies. Would be a big deal when stuff like Alien played tv for the first time. I had to be 8 or so when I first saw Piranha and I loved it.

The plot is Jaws but replacing the giant shark with a pile of mutated piranhas. They are heading to a water resort and of course the owner doesn't want to shut it down.

Cheesy and cheaply made this is still the best Jaws rip off from that era. Decent FX work,ok acting and a decent plot.

This DVD is loaded. Got a great commentary, that is full of info on  the film. A almost 20 minute long featurette with Corman and others that worked on  the film. They even dug up the scenes added back into the TV version. Back in the day lots of the time when  a film was edited for tv it would cause the running time to be too short, average movie needed to be 90 to 95 minutes so a 2 hour block would have 25 to 30 minutes of ads,so cut scenes would be added back in. Some films even  had new scenes filmed for the tv version.

I know there is a great blu ray of this out there. Betting a 4k is either out or out soon. This DVD is a great cheap choice if you want to try out the film

31 Days of Horror 2024 Day 17 Snakes on a Plane

TITLE-Snakes on a Plane

SOURCE-New Line DVD

Since I was a kid I loved creature features. Stuff like The Swarm or Tarantulas Deadly Cargo I would watch on WPMI and love. So when I heard about Snakes on  a Plane I was interested.

When the film hit theaters it was a time where most movies I would just wait till they hit home video. Then rent the DVD through Netflix. By the  time it hit Netflix I was busy and just never rented it.

Over the almost 20 years since it came out I have had many chances to see Snakes on a Plane on TV. Rather not watch the film edited to shreds and packed with ads. Then earlier this year while at my new secret junkstore I found the DVD pictured at the top. And it was 50 cents.

Sam Jackson is escorting a witness to a trial. The bad guys don't want the witness to testify. So they load the plane up with piles of exotic deadly snakes.

Decent cast, with more than a few people that are known character actors/actress. And the script aint bad for a creature feature. Really the  only thing that shows this was a lower budget movie is the FX. Some of the CGI snakes look good, almost real. Then others look like crap you would see in a Sub  Rosa Studio release. And in a film  like this bad FX can really hurt it.

I did enjoy the movie. Just that this feels more like a movie that would work better seeing it in a packed theater. Instead of sitting here just me and the dog,Maggot Ass the wonder mutt.

31 Days of Horror 2024 Day 14 Archnoquake

TITLE-ArchnoQuake
SOURCE-TUBI

Sometimes you want a dumb creature feature. Today was that day.

Set down in New Orleans a fracking accident releases giant albino firebreathing spiders.

And we follow around 2 groups trying to survive this invasion of creepy crawlers.

One group you got Bug Hall, the guy who was Alfalfa in the Little Rascals movie, along with Tracy "Growing Pains" Gold and a few others. Bug drives a tour bus through the city.

The other group is a girls' sports team. On a bus driven by Ed Furlong looking like he hasn't slept in 4 years.

Now this was made for Sci Fi Channel. So you know that means the spiders are CGI. But this isn't the normal SCIFI original horrid CGI. This is a slight step above that. Hell the script and the acting is a slight step above the normal made for SCI FI Creature feature.

What surprised me the most is there is a handful of stunts were someone is set on fire. And these aren't done with CGI. Nope appears they just lit someone on fire.

Not a bad way to pass almost 2 hours. And being free on TUBI helps.

31 Days of Horror 2022 Day 27 The Wasp Woman (1995)

TITLE-The Wasp Woman AKA Forbidden Beauty

SOURCE-DVD-R made from premiere airing on Showtime in 1995

Somehow out of all these mid 90s Roger Corman Theater remakes of older mostly PD films I have seen the 95 Wasp Woman remake, known as Forbidden Beauty in some areas, the most. Saw it when it first aired, cause I had seen and felt disappointed in the original. Then a few years later the remake was rerun on Showtime and a bachelor crash  pad house a buddy owned had myyself and 5 others drinking and watching it and laughing. Then back close to a decade ago when I got this DVD-r rip of a VHS recording ,in SP on a good HIFI VCR,of the original TV airing I watched it again. Then today.

Why out of the 5 or so of these remakes I own is this one I go back to often? Mostly cause the others are remakes of films I already enjoy. But that original Wasp Woman, that is in the top 5 movies I own the most copies of on DVD thanks to it being PD in an in every multipak of horror,is a boring as hell crap fest of a film. We get right at 4 minutes tops of Wasp Woman in the film. This remake while having soome dodgy FX at least gives us plenty of the title creature.

The remake also has Jennifer Rubin, who uses a very very obvious body double for the nudity in her sex scene, and Maria Ford. And this is Maria after she had some visits to the plastic surgeon. That original I can't tell you who anyone in the cast is. Hell the remake has Fred Olen Ray as the higher up that tells Rubin she is an old hag.

Directed by Jim Wynorski, this remake is the perfect example of how to reamake and improve an old horror flick. Now is it a undiscovered modern classic of horror? Hell NO! But it is a fun mid 90s Creature Feature that should be seen by more people. It is perfect for streaming on say Tubi or Amazon Prime. And for all I know it could be on one of those.

31 Days of Horror 2021 Day 15 The Giant Claw

TITLE-The Giant Claw

SOURCE-Mill Creek DVD

Years ago when I was a kid I saw pictures of the monster in various horror reference books.

Look at that thing!! It looks stupid as fuck. But since the movie only got one release on VHS I never got a chance to see it as a kid. And I know it aired a few times on AMC and TCM over the years. But I never saw it. Then it was October 2008. I was doing home healthcare. Basically I would show up at 8pm 4 nights week.Help this 80 something year old WWII vet take a shower and get ready for bed. Then we would look through the TV channels to find a movie to watch as he dozed off to sleep. It was I think Friday night. He wanted "Something scary to watch." I turned the TV to Turner Classic Movies and The Giant Claw was about to start. In the movie once they showed the creature Mr Perkins started laughing. "That is one messed up looking turkey." We watched the movie and were laughing so much and so loud his wife came down to tell us "Keep it down I'm trying to sleep."

That year for Xmas I found the DVD set that had The Giant Claw, plus 3 other films directed by Sam Katzman. The smile on Mr Perkins face when he opened the package and saw "That messed up looking turkey!" made my day.

The film is your standard mid 50s era creature feature. You get the military vs our creature. And of course atomic energy is used to defeat this horrific creature.

There is no one in the cast I know from any other film. But they all do a good job.Ben H.Kline does an amazing job as the cinematographer. I doubt the budget was high on this. But it looks like it had a pile of money behind it.

One neat bit of trivia is that no one in the film knew what the creature looked like until the film hit theaters. And reports are when the film premiered the crowd would burst into laughter every time the Giant Claw appeared. Which makes sense cause it is one odd goofy looking monster.

So if you want something goofy to watch. Plus something you can watch with kids or others who aren't fans of gory horror,The Giant Claw is perfect.

The Giant Claw gets a B+.

31 Days of Horror 2020 Day 31 Tarantula

TITLE-Tarantula!

SOURCE-Svengoolie Airing on MeTV

Well this October has sucked. Between the horrid weather, had a few days when it hit the low 90s. And then the recent Hurricane Zeta coming real close to where I live, just ain't been a good month.

I had planned on doing a bunch of stuff for Halloween day here at the blog. But something out of my control ate up all my free time for most of this month. Been many days were I barely managed to get a film watched and written up.

So I needed something to watch today. Flipped thru the DVR and saw I had Sven's airing of Tarantula. I hadn't seen this film in over 30 years at least. Plus hey it's Sven. I try to watch him most weeks cause he is one of the few horror hosts left.

Directed by Jack Arnold,Tarantula came out in the mid 50s from Universal. Which is why Sven is airing it. Sven has a deal with Universal to show their films. THis is another of those 50s b/w giant creature cause of that evil science films.

Leo G Carroll, who's not over a barrel,is testing out a serum on various animals and insects. It cause them to grow big. But early on we see some kind of mutanted human/monster attack Leo. Seems Leo tested this serum out on a person and it caused them to mutate horribly. Leo ends up with the serum in his body. So the rest of the film I'm just waiting on him to transform. When Leo gets attacked a Tarnatula! escapes from the hidden lab. Now this spider is like the size of a 10 lb dog. But once it takes to the hills it GROWS!!

The Tarantula! wanders around and does stuff. Looking horrible most of the time cause they used what appears to be rear projection to make the spider look big. And Leo starts to mutate!

Our lead John Agar is out with his woman riding up and down the highways in the desert. There is at least close to 10 minutes of the film that is just those two driving up and down what I think is the same road just shot from various angles.

Leo fully mutates and goes after Mara Corday, the afore mentioned lady. But the Tarantula! attacks the house they are in. Leo is killing by the collasping roof. And John and Mara run off. They run into the cops. But the bullets ain't doing shit to Tarantula! So the Sheriff calls in the Air Force. Who use NAPALM on Tarantula! and kill it.

That is the air force pilot that kills Tarantula! Look closely at him. Looks a bit familiar... It's Clint Eastwood!

The Sven airing was great. I ended up watching this with my mother, been having to help take care of her this month since she just had knee replacement surgery end of September. She liked how Sven would give some history on most of the cast of the film. Cause for people like John Agar and Leo G Carroll she knew their faces but couldn't remember what she knew them from. Well before and after the ad breaks Sven was there to fill in that info. Not bad for a mid 50s creature feature.I enjoyed it and am happy I saw this again after years.

31 Days of Horror 2020 Day 08 Kingdom of the Spiders

TITLE-Kingdom of the Spiders
SOURCE-DVD Rip on Youtube

Back in the 70s,this film came out in 76 or 77,there was plenty of creature run amuck films.I had seen lots of these. Thanks mostly to late night syndicated tv. Seen Tarantulas Deadly Cargo, which I reviewed here for 31 Days of Horror a few years ago, seen Grizzly, seen SSSSSSSSSSSS,another I reviewed here of 31 Days of Horror a few years ago. But until earlier this year I had never seen Kingdom of the Spiders.

That changed back in the spring. We were all kinda stuck at home.Bat32 of Sleaze Fiend Magazine fame wanted to bring back his old podcast. Exploited Cinema had been one of the best cult/sleazy movie podcasts for years. So Bat rounded up Zach from the Behind the Mask Podcast and asked me to come on. The film on discussion was of course Kingdom of the Spiders. Bat had found 2 copies of this film on youtube. One was a rip of the Shout/Scream Factory DVD release. The other was a VHS rip of when this filmed aired on Commander USA years ago.

Set in the Southwest this is a fairly entertaining PG rated creature feature. William Shatner(Rack in
this movie) is a vet. He also is helping out his dead brother's wife and daughter. He gets called to Woody Strode's farm.
Woody Strode and his wife at the farm
Seems Strode's cow is sick. Shatner gets there the cow is dead and he sends the body off to see why it died. Strode  and his wife are worried it is the black plague and they will get quarentined. Strode is a ex football player/pro wrestler. In an interview Shat talks about how Strode kept in amazing shape, even at the age of 62 when this film was made. Seems Strode would do all kinds of push ups every day. One handed,Elevated, diamonds "He could even do no handed ones" Shatner joked.

After finding out thru various tests that the cow died from spider venom,Shat calls in some help. This  lets Tiffany Bolling
to enter the film. She gets to fuck around with spiders,be Shat's love interest and a chance to get a big time movie role. Before this Bolling ,while a decent star on tv,had mostly done low budget films that are cult films now. Now she is getting a chance to be in a pic that costs 1 million bucks and has the Shat as her co star!

The rest of the cast and the film are decent. This film feels like either a big budget made for tv mid 70s horror or a low budget theatrical mid 70s horror. It had a 1 millon dollar budget, but so did Dawn of the Dead. And Dawn is a way more impressive film. Cause with Kingdom of the Spiders besides all the spiders, almost all the spiders we see in the film is real spiders, the only other things in the film that could have cost a decent amount is the water tower stunt, the plane crash stunt and of course The Shat!

In the deaths is where the films lower budget shows. It is odd with the director being a former stuntman but the film having so few stunts. For example Woody Strode's death. He is in his truck heading somewhere. Spiders start to crawl out from under and behind the seat and all over Strode. We see them on his face. The truck starts to swerve, cut away and we hear the truck crash. Most of the people that die we see the aftermath. In which it looks like the FX team ran to Dollar General 2 days after Halloween and bought a bunch of bags of clearence spider webs. The water tower crash looks great. Looks like something you would see in a big budget film of the era.

Then you got the biggest stunt in the film. After being told by Tiffany and the Shat that using poison on the spiders is not a good idea, the spiders are attacking dogs and cows and humans cause all of their normal food has been killed off by DDT. No not Jake the Snake's finishing move ! The now banned pesticide from the 70s. So a local yokel fills his cropduster plane up with some spider poison and flies all over the town dumping it. He forgot to check his plane before heading up and ends up with a pile of spiders all over him. Causing him to crash the plane and a great explosion happens. This was damn impressive. And the action highlight of the film.

The Shat gets attacked by spiders!
There is a hotel/bar and grill in town. Ran by this older redhead lady. Tiffany is staying there. Shat ends up taking his sister in law and niece there. The last 20 minutes of the film is what is left of our cast in this place.Boarding it all up like Night of the Living Dead. I guess Shatner knew the plane stunt was pretty damn good, and in the interview I saw he talked about how "I was in great shape back then. Wanted to do a stunt". The power goes out,the Shat goes into the basement to fuck with the breakers.
Spiders attack and he stumbles back to the others with a giant spider on his cheek biting him. Now any one else in the film that got bit died. But not the Shat. He is too tough for this venom that can kill huge cows. You get to see this great one long take part with Shatner stumbling into frame with the spider biting him he falls to the floor in perfect view of the camera. It is a great scene.

The next morning the few living people are listening to the radio. Shatner prys a few of the boards off a window. Looks out... and sees...THAT THE ENTIRE TOWN IS COVERED IN HUGE THICK SPIDER WEBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The END!!!!!!

I loved the fuck out of this film. It gets better with each viewing. Everything about it is just average. But all of that blends so well you get a film that is really so much more than the sum of it's parts. The acting is good from the names I mentioned to the smaller parts like the hillbilly with the flat tire. Or the gas station owner he tries to fight off a spider by spitting tobacco juice at it. The film looks nice and has some great shots of the southwest scenery. The music.,fuck I haven't talked about the music yet.

The score is all music from library tracks. All of which was used on the original Twilight Zone tv show. At first the score wasn't working for me. Not far into the film the score started working for me. THe few actual songs in the movie aren't bad. The feel like 70s early pop county stuff. So nothing I would buy but also nothing I hate.

Besides the DVD release from Shout Factory there is a Blu Ray from Code Red. Not sure I would pay what they want for it. If I see the DVD for say 15 bucks or less I will grab it.

31 Days of Horror 2015 Day 06 Black Sheep

Black Sheep
Source-Dimension Extreme Unrated DVD

Back when the Weinsteins started up the Dimension Extreme label because the films were usually cheap I grabbed everyone of them I found. And Black Sheep turned out to be the best of all the ones I grabbed.

Set in the rural areas of New Zealand, this is  a tale of mutated flesh eating sheep. Yeah sheep.Once a guy who is afraid of sheep comes back to sell his share of the family farm the shit hits the fan.Seems his brother has been performing genetic experiments on the sheep.

This is a nice combo of creature feature plus the gore/comedy stuff Peter Jackson use to do. To offset all the gore there is so much humor in this movie. And the humor is what makes this stand out. When this came out the DTV market was flooded with piles of modern creature features that had subpar CGI for the creatures. Black Sheep has decently done CGI and some great practical FX work.

The DVD has a nice amount of extras. We get some deleted scenes that can be watched with or without commentary. A film long commentary with writer/director Jon King and actor Nathan Meister. And a halfway decent making of Black Sheep featurette. IIRC this DVD was $7.50 brand new and is totally worth that price.

3 Toys from the Junkbox Halloween edition

Thanks to store remodeling I have been getting the blind bag Imaginext figures cheap. With movie reviews and trying to at least finish 5 books this month I doubt I will do another of these this month. I got enough Halloween/Horror style toys to do a few. But on to the 4,yeah it's almost Halloween fuck the rules getting 1 extra toy this time.

From series three this is some kind of either alien or undersea creature. Good sculpting on the legs and arms and face. The spear looks really good also.
But if you take the helmet off and the spear away it looks a bit more like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. I wouldn't mind getting another of these since it has two very different looks depending on if you put the accessories on or not.
BIGFOOT!!! There is a huge Imaginext remote control Bigfoot I have been trying to get for over a year. This smaller one, that comes with a giant fish!!!!,will make a good substitute.
Yeah you take the Mask off and and he looks doofy. But you can now add a Bigfoot mask to your other Imaginext figures.
This one is like the first one in that it has two totally different looks. With the "tater sack" mask on and weedwacker he looks like either Jason Voorhies in Friday the 13th part 2 or the killer from The Town that dreaded sundown.
You take the "Tater Sack" off and you got a great zombie figure. This line is for 3 to 8 year olds ,so a toy this creepy and scary in a line aimed at that age group is strange but a neat find.
Finally this very very well done vampire. The sculpting ,paint job and accessories are the best I have seen from this line of toys. The bat seems to hold best on the right arm. And the cape is a nice touch,
He does lose a bit without the cape. And the bat. But still a great looking figure. One I am kind of glad I got 2 of now.

31 Days of Horror 2015 Day 1 Sharknado 3 Oh Hell No

Sharknado 3 Oh Hell No
Source-TV airing

Figured I would  start this years 31 days of Horror off with what has become one of my favorite horror franchises. Starting 3 summers ago Syfy aired the original Sharknado. And it was such a hit now each July we get a new one.

We start the film with Finn in DC accepting an award from the President. His wife April is in Florida with their daughter. Of course another Sharknado hits. The first one hits DC while Finn is there. And after he helps save the President,he finds out there are more Sharknados. And one is heading right for where his now pregnant wife and teenage daughter are.

Finn heads down to Florida and on his way ends up running into Nova. Who was in the first film. Seems she now travels around North America fighting Sharknados.

After getting to Florida and saving his wife and daughter. Nova and Finn figure out a way to stop the multiple Sharknados that are heading towards the east coast. To do this they need to go up into space. So it is handy that Finn's father is an astronaut.

So we got Finn, his pregnant wife and his astronaut father going up in a space shuttle. But of course just cause they are in space doesn't mean they are safe from the Sharknados.

Sure the films are cheesy. And with each film they become more self aware. But they remind me so much of the cheesy creature features Roger Corman made back in the day. The films I would see at the drive in and then later on airing late at night on the weekends. And all the various cameos of various celebrities just adds to the fun of these films.
